Aug 30, 2017

Episode 52: What was once just a way to calm herself down and give her confidence has completely transformed into a business that is fueled by passion. Kimberly Russell is a makeup artist who has done weddings, special events, sweet 16’s and more but for her the driving force has never been about the money it’s been about seeing the smile on her clients face on some of the most memorable days of their life. Kimberly grew up in Charlestown, MA alongside her two older siblings, a brother and a sister. Her father always said if you work hard you’ll get to where you want to be and was an example for Kimberly as he worked for both the MBTA of Boston as well as a local liquor store just to ensure he provided as much as he could for his family. One of the biggest struggles she had faced growing up was watching her brother battle a heroin addiction which he was able to beat and completely change his life around. After two years of trying college and unhappy with it she left and enrolled in beauty school at Catherine Hinds Institute Of Esthetics. What was supposed to be only a one year program ended up being stretched to two. Kimberly had been diagnosed with depression, generalized anxiety, social anxiety and panic disorder and after letting it hold her back she eventually woke up one day sick and tired of feeling bad for herself and promised she was going to get better. Realizing there were millions of other people around the world dealing with similar struggles she committed to push herself forward and that's when she really began to find her love for makeup. In this episode Kimberly discusses family being an important support system when times are tough, finding a career that makes you happy but has an impact on others, people act the way they do for a reason and understanding why isn’t always that easy, not being afraid to put yourself out there, nothing will change about a person unless they want it to happen, steps people can take when battling with mental health issues and so fill your heart with what’s important and be done with the rest. — Subscribe to our YouTube Channel for new interviews (and more) weekly: http://bit.ly/2zprpon Follow us on Soundcloud: http://bit.ly/2hcSBws Subscribe to iTunes: http://apple.co/2yE0u9l Follow us on social media: Instagram: http://bit.ly/2j82AHF Follow Bobbbaaaay on social media: Instagram: http://bit.ly/2Ap24ce Twitter: http://bit.ly/2hj6Ljm
